The Mysteries of Easter Island

Easter Island is one of the most remote and mysterious places on the planet.  Off Chile’s coast, Easter Island is one of those places that hosts mysterious stone sculptural forms called moai. These statues were created from the 12th to the 14th centuries. They are extraordinary. There are over a 1000 moai, and what is amazing is that they are monolithic statues that were transported across miles and miles of terrain. Ok, so Easter Island isn’t the easiest place to get to, however,it  is a once in a lifetime cultural excursion.

Many people report strange feelings when they set foot on this almost mythical island (my dreams were peculiar to say the least). And although we can only touch the surface, what better way to do so than under the eye of the very people who brushed, troweled and uncovered the moai.

A trip to the far reaches of Chile can re-invent your world. This place is a view into the 12th century when creating monolithic stone statues was the expression of belief. You will have to see it to believe it. Save your pennies and take your next cultural trip to Easter Island.
